Lydia Kardos is a New York based photographer and artist.

An alumnus of The Boston Arts Academy, she completed 4 years of training as a visual arts major and went on to graduate with a BFA in Photography from

The School of Visual Arts. She works professionally in photography and styling in New York City. Her print work has been featured in many print ads and magazines including The New York Times, Elle Decor, Dwell Magazine and Complex Music (pigeonsandplanes.com)

Her personal work often involves exploration of the female form and woman as a central starring role in her narrative portraits. Often highlighting the eerie, mysterious, and magical aspects of her subject matter, much of her work tiptoes on the edge of reality and fantasy, a strong and heavy nod to her fascination with magical realism. The Tarot, astrology, latin american literature and art are much of her inspiration. She has lived in Quintana Roo, Mexico and now resides permanently in New York City.

She styles, constructs sets, costumes, and makeup in her photography series. The artist also combines mixed media in many of her works and murals.

Currently she is working on an online magazine blog and multimedia series inspired by her favorite Latin artist, the Tarot, and theme of magical realism.

Los sueños son surrealistos, con los ojos abiertos se ve el mágico de la vida . Quiero maximizar la eficiencia y la versatilidad del realismo mágico.
